Entry-Level Environmental Engineer, Geologist or Scientist
Waterstone has an immediate opening for an entry-level Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Scientist on our team of top-notch industry professionals in Anaheim, California. Waterstone company culture is built on excellent service, teamwork, and technical collaboration to solve the most challenging environmental problems. The successful candidate will be provided with a great opportunity to work on a variety of exciting environmental projects under the direction of Project Managers including site assessment, investigation, remediation, compliance, and litigation support. The work at Waterstone will provide the successful candidate with the required experience needed to eventually obtain a professional registration.
Qualifications

BS in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, environmental science or related environmental discipline. MS is preferred.

Recent graduate to 2 years of experience. No professional experience is necessary, but internships or previous relevant experience is desirable

Willingness/interest in field assignments; ability to perform field work standing or walking for full field days.

Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.

Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Detail-oriented with solutions and results-oriented aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.

Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.

Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification a plus.

GIT or EIT certification preferred.

Responsibilities
-
Your time will generally include a mix of field time and office hours. Under the direction of Project Managers, you will be responsible for assigned project activities through application of engineering or scientific principles and techniques, conducting observations or sampling in the field as well as assisting in the completion of reports and other project work. Your assignments could span any of our services areas allowing you to gain experience in different areas of engineering.

Conduct field work, including soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, soil vapor, and indoor air sampling, aquifer testing, drilling oversight and soil logging, soil boring and monitoring well installation, well development, purging and sampling, remedial and wastewater treatment pilot tests, and remedial system operation and maintenance.

Assist in groundwater and soil vapor extraction system performance monitoring.

Perform Phase I and II environmental assessments to support property transfer transactions
-
Compile and evaluate data and assist in report preparation.
-
Prepare environmental compliance work plans, permits, and reports for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, and storm water.
-
Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
-
Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
-
Communicate/coordinate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities and independently perform subcontractor oversight.

Develop project documents in conjunction with project team such as Health and Safety plans (HASPs), Workplans, and Sampling Summary Reports
-
Complete field work in accordance with safety requirements and site-specific safety plans at project sites including site visits, environmental sampling, and oversight of subcontractors
-
Tabulate, manage, and evaluate environmental data including soil, soil gas, and groundwater sample results under the supervision of an experienced engineer
-
Use computer software (Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint) as a tool for data evaluation, data presentation, and report writing.

Independently perform research tasks with input from technical experts.
